❗️Israeli FM visits Ecuador, Colombia to bolster Latin America ties Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar is visiting Colombia and Ecuador as part of a diplomatic outreach to Latin America, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. Saar began his trip in Miami, where he met with Jewish community leaders. His office said he highlighted a recent ruling by a Palm Beach County judge dismissing a lawsuit that challenged the county’s $1 billion investment in Israel bonds. He later arrived in Ecuador, becoming the first Israeli foreign minister to visit the country in 44 years. In Quito, Saar was scheduled to meet his Ecuadorian counterpart before the two deliver joint statements and participate in a ceremony honoring Manuel Antonio Munoz Borrero, the Ecuadorian diplomat recognized as a Righteous Among the Nations for issuing Ecuadorian passports to European Jews in 1941. Saar is also expected to hold talks with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, visit the country's parliament, and meet members of Ecuador’s Jewish community. He is due to travel to Colombia on Wednesday night to attend Friday’s inauguration of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella, where he is also expected to meet leaders from across Central and South America.
