Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi opened the emergency session by warning that the city faces unprecedented threats, pointing to illegal settlement expansion, land annexation, and persistent violations against Muslim and Christian holy locations. The high-level talks brought together members of the Arab ministerial committee alongside top diplomats from Turkiye, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia, as well as Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Gheit. Discussions heavily centered on protecting the historical and legal status quo of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which faces an imminent risk of takeover due to frequent incursions by Israeli settlers. Safadi emphasized that ongoing violations risk igniting a broader regional religious conflict that extends far beyond Palestinian territories.
