Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa: I had certainty that this regime would fall. Our duty was to take every possible means to achieve that. I constantly reviewed the battles we had lost against the regime, and I found that the causes often lay within the revolutionary ranks themselves. Despite the regime's strength and Russian intervention, many of the problems were our own. So we worked to correct them. One of the most important lessons I adopted was this: I never repeat the same mistake twice. If we make a mistake and lose in one way, then next time we can even lose in a different way—that's acceptable. But repeating the exact same mistake and the exact same failure over and over—that was the real problem. That mindset eventually became part of our culture. A large number of people around us learned the same approach.
