US President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that a military strike was dramatically aborted at the eleventh hour against Iran, and that it was slated to be the most expansive assault of its kind in generations.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump laid bare the sheer scale of the intended aggression:
"It was going to be a massive attack," Trump said. "It was going to be an attack that would have been, by far, the biggest attack since World War II."
Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of War, later posted on X (formerly Twitter) the department "remains ready ... locked and loaded."
