The meeting has raised serious concerns regarding the "state of law" that President Aoun repeatedly claims to build, given the extensive allegations surrounding the military official. ​Al-Mahatta highlighted a series of active files and suspicions involving Brig. Gen. Kfoury which include British investigative documents linking him to weapons smuggling suspicions, administrative violations at Beirut International Airport, alleged sectarian discrimination using his official position, and the illegal appointment of his wife as a notary public. ​Despite the gravity of these claims, no official investigations or legal prosecutions have been initiated against Kfoury in Lebanon.
