❗️US Treasury chief claims Washington & Tehran could reach deal to open Strait of Hormuz by Wednesday US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claimed Washington could reach an agreement with Iran as early as Wednesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a move he said would help stabilize energy prices. “We are in talks with the Iranians, and I think there is a chance we may have a deal today or tomorrow to open the strait and move toward a more normalized position in this conflict,” Bessent said Tuesday in an interview with CNBC. Asked whether such an agreement would permit Iran to impose fees on ships passing through the strait, Bessent responded: “I think it would be freedom of movement.”
